Rohingya Emergency Appeal
Heavy monsoon rains have triggered deadly floods and landslides across the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. At least 17 people have lost their lives, including children. Thousands have been affected or displaced. Homes have flooded, shelters have collapsed, and families have been forced to move through dangerous water and unstable ground in search of safety. Many affected families have lost food, clothing, household items and safe shelter. Continued rainfall places them at risk of further flooding, landslides, illness and displacement. Unity Aid has launched an emergency appeal to support families in the Rohingya Camps. Village of Hope
After decades of a brutal regime and civil unrest, our brothers and sisters are still facing immense uncertainty and hardship. Following liberation, we must help them rebuild their lives and help end their generation-long journey of displacement and misery. The humanitarian situation in Shaam remains critical, with widespread needs and deteriorated infrastructure following 14 years of brutal oppression by the regime. Health systems and education are in disarray, with millions of children out of school and hospitals operating at limited capacity, with nearly 15 million people requiring humanitarian health support. More than 13 million people are still facing acute food insecurity and more than 7 million remain displaced across the country. More than 13 years of suffering have left more than 70% of the country’s population in need of humanitarian aid. Many don’t have the money to buy essentials. Beleaguered by already limited employment opportunities, tragic losses of main breadwinners to war, survivors are left in dire need without financial stability, sustenance or shelter. Unity Aid has already begun construction of its flagship village – Dar al-Amal: Village of Hope. This village is designed to provide homes to those most vulnerable, particularly orphans and widows, in a safe environment, allowing them to rebuild their lives. Each home costs just £3,750 and is Zakat applicable. You can help orphans and widows to rebuild their lives and recover from the trauma of war and disaster. The Genocide in Gaza has martyred over 69,000 people and injured over 170,000. More than 1.8 million residents of Gaza have been forced to flee their homes with nowhere to run that is safe. Residential buildings, public areas, schools, agricultural sites, places of worship and medical facilities have all been targeted. Gaza is a home to 2 million people, one of the most densely populated cities on Earth. One-third of Palestinians live below the poverty line, and after 18 years of blockades and attacks, the two million residents of Gaza have been plunged into abject poverty. 80% of the population relies on aid for their survival, with food, medication, water, and electricity supplies at an all-time low. Innocent children in Gaza are trapped in a cycle of suffering and trauma. They once again live with the horror of airstrikes looming over them. Many Palestinians and humanitarian organisations continue to describe Gaza as the world’s largest open-air prison, a rigidly controlled strip of land with very little opportunity for movement, escape or growth. Israeli air strikes have destroyed tens of thousands of homes, with 4 in 5 people having to flee their homes. Many have been forced to seek shelter in dozens of schools and hospitals. To make matters worse, the healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, due to widespread destruction and damage of hospitals. Just as our Palestinian brothers & sisters refuse to succumb to Israeli occupation, we must proudly stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine. In the midst of the genocide, in unity with our partner charities we have distributed over £300,000 worth of aid support and assist the blessed people of Gaza. This Ramadan, unwavering in our support we have launched a united appeal with Ummah Welfare Trust, One Nation, One Ummah and Human Aid & Advocacy to collectively provide emergency aid and bring some relief to the people of Palestine. The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that Sudan could soon face the worst hunger crisis in recent history if aid does not reach those in need. More than 11.5 million people have been displaced. Half of the entire country is facing a food crisis, and three quarters of a million people are facing catastrophic hunger and need help now. Unity Aid has launched an emergency appeal to support families in Sudan. In unity with One Nation, we are supporting families in emergency with nutritious food parcels. Each food parcel costs just £30 and typically includes items such as lentils, rice, flour, pasta, lentils, oil and other items.
